Southern Comfort
Izzy's Comfort Kitchen
Our go-to for brunch. The cornbread comes out warm and the texture is unlike anything else in town. Everything on the menu is gluten-friendly, which is rare and wonderful.
🔥 Hot tipOrder the peach bourbon BBQ burger or the fried chicken plate — you'll want to order a second.

Giuseppe's Pasta Posto
Hands down the best dinner in CDA right now. Chef John is a true craftsman — you can feel the passion in every bite. Make a reservation, it fills up fast on weekends.
⭐ We recommendThe gnocchi and the tiramisu. Don't skip either — fair warning, you won't stop thinking about them.

The Cedars Floating Restaurant
If you're doing one special dinner, make it here. You walk across a dock to reach a restaurant that literally floats. The sunset views over the river are stunning — ask for a window seat when you book.
⭐ We recommendThe New York strip with the salad bar. Classic for a reason.

Tap House
Crafted Tap House
Great casual spot with an enormous beer list. Friday nights they do turtle races on the bar — it's genuinely hilarious. The outdoor fire pit area is perfect in the evenings.
🔥 Hot tipOrder the tacos and sweet potato fries. Be careful — once you start on those fries, they disappear fast.

Cocktail Bar
The Goat Lounge
Our favorite pre-dinner stop in downtown CDA. The bartenders are genuinely talented — tell them what you're in the mood for and they'll make something off-menu. Cozy lounge seating, great tapas.
🔥 Hot tipAsk for the current off-menu seasonal cocktail. You won't regret it.

Treehouse CDA
Such a fun, relaxed spot. They make their soups from scratch daily and the chef comes out to talk about them — you can tell he's proud. Dog-friendly on the back patio, which we love.
⭐ We recommendAsk about the soup of the day first, then get a smash burger alongside it.

Parallel 47
Our personal favorite restaurant in the whole area. The food is consistently outstanding and the desserts are over the top. They have a quieter dining room if you want something more intimate.
⭐ We recommendThe Szechuan fried cauliflower to start, then whatever pasta is on the menu. Save room for dessert — don't say we didn't warn you.

Pub & Grille
Porch Public House
Tucked next to the golf course with a real cabin feel inside. Great for a laid-back lunch. The patio is lovely when the weather cooperates and the service is always warm and unhurried.
⭐ We recommendThe French dip with the pasta corn salad on the side. A combo we keep coming back to.

The Boathouse
Right on Hayden Lake — the spot to pull up to after a day on the water. Call ahead to confirm they're open. Casual, fun, and the Sand Pail shareable drink is a crowd favorite every time.
🔥 Hot tipOrder the Sand Pail for the table and the fish tacos. Best enjoyed with lake water still on your clothes.

The owner Staci pours her heart into this place and it shows. Gluten-free guests are genuinely taken care of here — not an afterthought. The highland cow decor is a fun touch too.
🔥 Hot tipThe BBQ mac & cheese burger. You'll want to order a second before you've finished the first.

Sawmill Grille
A local staple and a reliable go-to for a solid meal. They flame-broil the burgers which makes a real difference. Generous portions and a nice selection of local craft beers on tap.
⭐ We recommendThe tri-tip French dip or the spicy guac burger. Either way, get the sweet potato tots.

Republic Kitchen+Taphouse
One of our favorite spots to bring out-of-town guests. A restored 1910 house that's so charming inside. The menu is quirky and creative in the best way. Summer patio is incredible.
⭐ We recommendThe warm onion dip to start, then the jalapeño burger. Trust the process.

CDA Coffee Co.
A CDA institution. Big, airy space right downtown, roasted in-house. The fire pit out front is perfect on a cool morning. Great energy without being too loud or rushed.
⭐ We recommendA breve latte. Our daughters call it "amazing" every single time — and they're not wrong.

Our personal everyday coffee spot. Mason, the owner, is one of the warmest people you'll meet and he actually takes time to chat. Never loud or rushed — just great coffee and good vibes.
⭐ We recommendA cortado. Clean, simple, perfect. You might find yourself back here before checkout day.

Grab your coffee here and walk the Spokane River trail right outside — one of our favorite things to do on a slow morning. The outdoor seating overlooking the water is genuinely beautiful.
🔥 Hot tipTry a drip coffee, black. Their beans are that good on their own — no additions needed.

The Lanai
Super cute, modern spot that feels like it belongs in a bigger city. Counter service — order at the front. Great if you want a full breakfast rather than just coffee. The food is creative and really fresh.

The attention to detail in this space is wild — the grout in the bathroom literally glitters. Plan to stay longer than you think. Browse the books, stay for a sandwich, and just enjoy the atmosphere.

Opens at 5am — a lifesaver on early departure days. Everything feels homemade and warm in there. Syrups are made in-house and the breakfast sandwich selection is genuinely addictive.

Our quick-stop go-to before a busy day. Incredibly consistent and friendly — regulars say their order is ready before they even pull up. Efficient without ever feeling rushed.
🔥 Hot tipTry the white coffee shot in your latte — smoother and less bitter. A lot of people switch and never go back.

Our favorite morning: Coffee from Maha, then a walk down to the lake at Tubbs Hill. There's nothing better than a quiet Tuesday morning on that trail with a good cup in hand.

Arrival day tip: If you land hungry and don't want to cook right away, head straight to Pilgrim's hot bar — it's the freshest, most satisfying grab-and-go in town and it's been our arrival day ritual for years.

Pilgrim's Market
We genuinely love this store. Locally owned, the staff actually care, and the selection is unlike any other grocery in North Idaho. The hot bar and salad bar are fresh daily. Their bulk spice and nut section has saved many of our dinners. Don't miss the Secret Sunday Sale — they deeply discount select items every week.

Most convenient option no matter which property you're in — there's a Super 1 close to all three locations, open 24 hours. The CDA location has fresh popcorn by the door and $1 root beer floats at the deli counter, which our kids go crazy for every time.

Yoke's Fresh Market
Our go-to on the Post Falls side. The deli is one of the best in the area — their in-house burger is a steal. Produce is always beautifully kept and the bakery does custom cakes if you have something to celebrate. Sometimes they carry local raw milk, which we always grab when it's in.

Hikes, trails & the water

Honest advice: No matter how long your to-do list is, carve out at least one morning to walk Tubbs Hill with a coffee. It puts you in the right headspace for everything else.

Hikes & Trails — CDA
Easy · Lake Views
Tubbs Hill
Our most-recommended spot in all of CDA. Right off downtown, takes about an hour to loop, and the views of the lake from the top are jaw-dropping. There's a quiet rocky beach you can swim from too.
🔥 Hot tipGo early on weekdays. Weekend mornings get crowded fast and the trail is best when it's quiet.

Mineral Ridge
A calf burner but absolutely worth it. There's an old mining cave near the top and the lake panoramas are some of the best in the area. About 3 miles total with steady switchbacks.
🔥 Hot tipBring more water than you think you'll need. Seriously.

Canfield Mountain
No joke — nearly 2,000 feet of elevation gain in under 2 miles. But standing at the top looking over CDA, Post Falls, and Hayden all at once is something you won't forget. Go early and bring snacks.
🔥 Hot tipThis is not a casual hike. Come prepared and you'll be rewarded with one of the best views in North Idaho.

Cougar Bay
A hidden gem most visitors never find. Flat, peaceful, winds through beautiful wetlands along the lake. Great for families — even young kids do the whole thing without a complaint.
⭐ We recommendPair it with a picnic at the water's edge. One of the quietest spots on the whole lake.

Post Falls Community Forest
Way more trail than it looks on the map. Some paths are mellow walks, others have you scrambling over boulders. Download the AllTrails map before you go so you don't get turned around.
🔥 Hot tipThe river access at the bottom is fantastic on a hot day — makes for a great natural finish line.

We've sent so many guests here and everyone comes back raving. Book the Bayliner to explore coves; the pontoon is perfect for a bigger group with coolers and music. Reserve at least a week out in summer.

About 30 minutes north in Athol and absolutely worth it. The waterpark is massive and the rollercoasters are genuinely thrilling. One of our favorite full-day family outings in the whole region.

We've done this more than once and would do it again tomorrow. The guides — especially Heather and Dakota — are hilarious and make everyone feel safe and pumped. Even the nervous ones finish absolutely beaming.

The heart of downtown CDA. We start almost every downtown day here — grab a coffee from Sherman Ave, walk through the park, and head down toward the waterfront. Food trucks nearby in summer.
🔥 Hot tipPark here once and walk to everything — Sherman Ave, the waterfront, and Tubbs Hill are all within easy distance.

Atlas Waterfront Park
One of the newer parks in the area and already one of our favorites. Right off Riverstone, with a fenced dog area that goes right to the water. The paved river trail here is beautiful at sunset.
⭐ We recommendCome at golden hour. The light on the river here is something else entirely.

A few more tips

Lake cruise: The 90-minute cruise from the CDA Resort dock is genuinely great — they point out celebrity homes on the lake and the guide really knows the history. Perfect for an evening activity.

Best kept secret: Drive south on Hwy 97 to Beauty Bay. It's one of the most beautiful swimming spots on the lake and most tourists never find it. Bring a paddleboard, a cooler, and no plans.

Have an amazing stay!
